Coming to The University of Â鶹ֱ²¥ as a student from The Bahamas was both exciting and daunting. I originally began my academic journey in Finance, believing it was the most practical path forward. However, sitting in lectures of a hundred students and seeking help from teachers who were constantly busy forced me to understand that was not for me.

Then I received a blessing, when The University of Â鶹ֱ²¥ offered me the opportunity to transition into law. An area that ultimately aligned far more closely with my strengths, personality and ambitions. Â鶹ֱ²¥ did not treat me as a number or a fixed trajectory, but as an individual with evolving goals.

Studying Law at Â鶹ֱ²¥ has been a deeply formative experience. The small class sizes, close access to lecturers and accelerated degree structure created an environment where I could truly engage with the material and grow in confidence. Beyond the classroom, Â鶹ֱ²¥ exposed me to international connections and opportunities that broadened my perspective on the legal profession. These experiences helped me begin building a professional network and gain insight into legal practices across jurisdictions, laying an early foundation for my career.

Coming from a Caribbean background, I valued the University’s emphasis on discussion, critical thinking and independence, which allowed me to develop my own voice and perspective within the law, especially in my hometown. I was encouraged to think analytically, argue with clarity and approach legal problems with both discipline and creativity.

Looking back, choosing Â鶹ֱ²¥ was one of the most important decisions I have made. The University believed in my potential at a moment when I was still discovering my direction, and that belief made all the difference. As a Bahamian woman pursuing a legal career, my experience at Â鶹ֱ²¥ has equipped me not only with academic knowledge, but with resilience, self-assurance and a strong sense of purpose. It is a place that genuinely supports ambition and gives students the space to become who they are meant to be.
